Kawananakoa Middle School Orientation Made Easy
New students entering Kawananakoa Middle School may find the campus disorienting and confusing. This website project is created with these fresh faces in mind. Through this orientation website incoming students, their parents, and even faculty and staff from our feeder schools can view information about our campus, curriculum, staff, and various student related activities. All this is meant to ease the transition for new students to our school and provide answers for questions that parents often have when their child enters our school.

Media's Portrayal of Women
The music industry is beginning to recognize women who are extremely talented. A woman entertainer with an amazing voice and a range that seems physically impossible or one with amazing song writing skills who is able to play a multitude of instruments can receive recognition for talent. The downside to their recognition is that singers are forced by the media to compromise their views as to how they should be represented.

The Kamehameha Schools
Food Services Website
The Kamehameha Food Services Website was created by Peter Thourson & Makoa Jacobsen. This website uses various web technologies including PHP/MySQL, RSS, and XML to accomplish the goal of presenting the daily menus on the web for the food services department. The project was originally started with the goal of simply getting the daily menu on the site automatically and therefore making the website much easier to maintain. However, over the period of several months, the project grew to include other additional features. These features include the ability to send the menus to cell phones and email address as a text message and also display on RSS compatible programs and web sites. The results of this project are impressive; the food services department is now able to update and maintain their menu schedule database saving them much time and making the information much more accessible to those at Kamehameha.

Kalani High School Senior Management Suite

Every one knows the amount of stress a student in their senior year faces. In this time seniors have to get ready for the prom, take standardized tests, go to graduation meetings, take care of materials, applying to colleges and scholarships, keep up with normal studies, which a lot barely kept up with before and acutally have a social life of their own. Schools also don't help by not informing students about the changes that they have. All of their reminders are all generic as in "SATs are coming up" and printed on paper. What we propose is that there be a student homepage specific to that certain student. That page will help keep track of the student's activities or deadlines and give them reminders, as the date gets closer. Each homepage will have a news section the specific to the school that student goes to. That will help organize the students and alleviate some stress that they are having.

Campbell High School - Sharing Is Caring

Hundreds of computers lay idle in closets of schools. Many are put there because they are too slow to be effective and in turn, slow down network performance. With this project I will cluster the different user interfaces to combine shared supercomputers with multiple OS terminals.
