HITECH QUEST JUNIOR

Too often we say: "My voice is unimportant, no one listens. My vote doesn't count." Well, your voice does matter! The rise of the Internet has changed the rules of the game. No matter how young or how old you are, the Internet gives you the opportunity to share your concerns and ideas with a much larger audience….the world! HiTech Quest Junior is all about speaking out about a cause that matters to you, and educating and influencing others to share your same ideals.

This Web Page Design Contest is open to students in grades 6-8.

The web site must advocate on behalf of an issue that's important to Hawaii's youth or community and must be designed by students.

Create your web site using Hyper Studio, Microsoft Front Page, Macromedia DreamWeaver, Macromedia Flash, or whatever other program you choose to use.

As a means of demonstrating that your web site is communicating to a wide audience, 10% of your project’s score will be based on the number of “popular votes” your web site receives. From Wednesday, March 2, 2005, through Tuesday, March 8, 2005 , have your friends and family go to the HiTech Quest web site to vote for your project. The more votes you generate, the more points (maximum 10 points) your project will receive.

HiTech Quest will award three prizes: first place ($250 scholarship), second place ($200 scholarship), and third place ($100 scholarship).

The first-place project’s participants will receive a pizza party for their project team (or 10 of their friends if done individually).
